Sigrún Edda Björnsdóttir

Sigrún Edda Björnsdóttir (1958) graduated from the Iceland Academy of the Arts in 1981. Since then, she has starred in over 100 productions, often taking on lead roles. She is a versatile actress and plays equally drama roles, comedy roles and roles in musicals as well. She has been under contract with both the National Theatre of Iceland and the Reykjavik City Theatre, and has participated in numerous productions within independent theatres in Iceland as well.

She has starred in multiple TV and movie projects, such as Trapped, Stella Blomkvist and The Grandad. She has directed various projects and has also written TV-series, children's books, radio plays, cartoons and video games.

For her work she has received wide recognition, for example 11 nominations for the prestigious Gríman award, which she has won 3 times. She received the Stefaníustjakinn in 2007 for her contribution to the Icelandic acting and theatre scene.
