Ævar Þór Benediktsson

For the last several years Ævar has written close to 40 books for children and young adults, becoming one of the most best selling authors of Iceland. He has also received numerous awards and nominations for his work connected to children‘s culture, both in Iceland and the USA.

Ævar has co-starred in movies such as XL and The County. Some of his acting roles for TV include The Daywatch, Hæ Gosi, Case, Stella Blómkvist, The Mayor, World‘s End, My Funeral, My Wedding and My Inheritance. For My Funeral Ævar was nominated at the 2021 Edda awards as “Best Supporting Actor.”

Most recently Ævar starred in the the scandi-noir series Black Sands and co-wrote and starred in the horror-short Krampuss, for which he received the award for Best Screenplay at the Children Cinema Awards (CCA) 2024 and was nominated as "Best Actor in a Short Film" at the HorrOrigins-festival of 2024.
