Anna Gunndís Guðmundsdóttir
Anna Gunndís Guðmundsdóttir graduated with a BFA in acting from the Iceland University of the Arts in the spring of 2010. Following this, she worked with the performance art group SIGNA in the production Die Hundsprozesse in collaboration with Schauspiel Köln in Germany and in the production Das Ehemalige Haus at the Salzburg Festival in Austria. She was under contract with the Akureyri Theatre Company for the winter season of 2012-2013 and subsequently moved to New York, where she graduated with an MFA in screenwriting and film directing from the Tisch School of the Arts at New York University in the spring of 2018.
Anna Gunndís took her first steps on stage with the Akureyri Theatre Company at the age of sixteen and has since acted in theater, television, and film. She played the lead role in the film Frost (2012) directed by Reynir Lyngdal and one of the main roles in the film I Remember You (2017) directed by Óskar Þór Axelsson. Television series she has acted in include The People in the Block (2013), The Valhalla Murders (2019) and Eurogarðurinn (2020). She also has a role in the television series Black Sands directed by Baldvin Z.
She was nominated for the Edda Awards as “Best Actress” in a Leading Role for her role in the film Frost, and she was also nominated in the category “Best New Nordic Voice” at the Nordic Panorama film festival for her short film I Can’t Be Seen Like This.
Anna Gunndís is currently working on her first feature film as well as a 10-episode TV-series.
