Björgvin Franz Gíslason is an Icelandic actor, singer, writer and a stand up comedian whose stage works consists of roles such as Billy Flinn in Chicago, earning him the National Theater Award Gríman for “Best Singer” in 2023, Ms. Trunchbull in Matilda The Musical, Jim Morrison in the anniversary show Jim 80, PT Barnum in Greatest Showman in concert, Hedwig in Hedwig and the Angry Inch among others. Björgvin was the equivalent of Mr. Rogers in Iceland, writing and starring in more than 90 children’s TV episodes for the Icelandic National Broadcasting Service, earning him the renowned Edda Awards for the “Best Icelandic Children Program.” He has also produced and hosted Icelandic travel TV shows, as well as hosting and singing in a Christmas Special for the Icelandic National Broadcasting Service.

He has done numerous supporting roles in film and TV, both nationally and internationally, newest being a series regular in BBC/CBS King & Conqueror, starring (and directed by) Nikolaj Coster-Waldau where Björgvin plays Baron Richard, along with supporting roles in Verbúðin (Blackport) that won the Grand Prize at the Series Mania festival in France. Björgvin was also a series regular in Vitjanir (Fractures) as well as doing a bit part in Clint Eastwood’s Flags of our Fathers. He is also a veteran voiceover actor, dubbing for roles such as John Oliver´s Zazu in the new rendition of Lion King as well as Tony Hale´s Forky in Toy Story 4.
