Salka Gullbrá

Salka Gullbrá is a comedian, director, and screenwriter.

Salka graduated from the Playwriting program at Iceland Academy of the Arts in 2019 and has been involved in various projects across the country since then. She co-founded the stand-up comedy group Fyndnustu Mínar in 2018, alongside Lóa Björk Björnsdóttir and Rebecca Scott Lord. The group held numerous stand-up shows at venues such as the National Theatre basement, Tjarnarbíó, and Hard Rock for several years. As a result, she has extensive experience in entertainment.

Salka is the artistic director of Krakkaveldi, a performing arts project developed in collaboration with children. Krakkaveldi turns the power dynamics between adults and children upside down, creating a world where children are in charge. She has also directed works for the Polish-Icelandic theater company PóliS since its inception. Their play Co za poroniony pomysł won the Gríman Award for "Breakthrough of the Year" in 2020.

In addition, Salka has written columns for radio and newspapers.

Stand-up

Salka has a wealth of experience in stand-up and performs a 15-20 minute set, which she adapts to suit the needs of each event.

Event hosting

Salka is a seasoned stand-up comedian and takes on the role of event host as well.
